Matt Restivo

Matt Restivo is currently the Director of Product Management at the NHL. Matt oversees the team that Product Manages the NHL app, 19 club apps, .com, and all club .coms. The new NHL app launched to huge success in October 2014, reaching its highest ever rating in both app stores. The relaunch drew +90% in video starts and +23% in visits.

The team is focused on many initiatives with the following central focus; provide a beautiful familiar experience for the hockey fan on the go, on the couch, and at the arena.


Matt is a 5 time Marathoner, amateur triathlete and an Indoor Cycling instructor at Flywheel Sports in New York City.


While at ESPN, Matt Restivo emerged as one of the pioneers in the mobile Notifications space. Matt was a critical piece of the team that added personalization features within the app. Matt was directly responsible for more than doubling the app’s addressable audience size of the number one ranked sports app.

  • created and presented digital messaging strategy to executive leadership
  • built the espn alerts api from ground floor to distributed documentation

    Matt was previously the Product Manager for ESPN Passport, and is now an advisor for Hardball Passport and its sister sites. He graduated from Siena College with a BS in Computer Science and a minor in Business. Matt occasionally writes blog posts, but can be found hopping around New York City, and active on both twitter, and facebook.
